Raymond Bernard / Walter Siegmeister

Raymond W. Bernard (the pen name of Walter Siegmeister, also writing as 'Brother Philip') was a 20th-century writer who became a key modern synthesizer of the Hollow Earth claim with UFO lore. In Flying Saucers From the Earth's Interior (1960) he argued that flying saucers originate from a inhabited interior world reached through polar openings, and in The Hollow Earth (1964/1965) he restated the Symmes-style hollow-Earth case with modern pseudoscientific framing. His works fed directly into later inner-Earth/UFO and 'secret base' narratives. Geophysical evidence (seismic tomography, PREM, USGS layered-Earth baseline) does not support a hollow, inhabited interior, so his claims are treated as pseudoscientific synthesis, not validated science.

Research detail
