The Taurid Meteor Stream is real. Earth crosses debris associated with the Taurid Complex, producing the Northern and Southern Taurid meteor showers in the fall and related daytime showers such as the Beta Taurids around late June. These showers are associated mainly with Comet 2P/Encke and possibly related near-Earth objects. The Taurids are notable because they are broad, long-lasting, and known for occasional bright fireballs. Modern meteor research also supports the existence of resonant branches or swarms with larger meteoroids. Plain-language explanation
