Stonehenge is a Neolithic and Bronze Age monument complex on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England. The monument’s astronomical significance is strongest where architecture, sightline, and repeated cultural behavior converge: the solstitial axis. This axis is not a modern projection. It is built into the monument’s layout and into the approach through the Avenue.

Lunar claims are more cautious. The four Station Stones may relate to lunar standstill directions, especially the major lunar standstill that repeats about every 18.6 years. Modern researchers have been studying this in the 2024-2025 standstill window. The idea is plausible, but it is not as secure as the solstice alignment.
